Rachel Jansen Jones, Owner and USHJA Certified Trainer |

Rachel founded Crossroads Farm in 1998, after working and showing for several hunter/jumper barns in Arizona and the Midwest for over 15 years.
She found that there was a need for an "A" Circuit barn in the East Valley, that catered to teaching Juniors and Amateurs all-around horsemanship, in addition to riding and showing.
"Our riders win at the State and Zone levels, but they also know how to bandage a leg, lunge their own horse, or treat a sick horse."
Rachel was President of the Arizona Hunter Jumper Association for 2 terms, and is currently a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, the United States Hunter Jumper Association, and the Arizona Hunter Jumper Association. Her students and horses have captured many year-end awards with the USEF, AHJA, and USHJA. Some of the highlights include winning the Sallie B. Wheeler Yearling Hunter Breeding Championship West Coast, coming in 3rd in the International Hunter Futurity Finals in Kentucky in the under saddle, winning the International Hunter Futurity West Coast Reserve Championship, qualifying Juniors for the National Junior Hunter Championship as well as the National Pony Finals, and numerous year-end Championships in the rated Hunter/Jumper Divisions, from Baby Greens, to 2nd Year Greens, to Junior Hunters, to Junior/Amateur Jumpers.
Crossroads Farm attends about 15-20 "A" rated shows each year, from AZ, to CA, to NM, as well as numerous schooling shows, so all levels of riders can achieve their goals. The farm also hosts schooling shows, warmblood inspections, and clinics with world-famous riders and trainers each year.
Rachel is a USHJA certified trainer. She is also the coach of the ASU Equestrian Team and Crossroads Farm has partnered with the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) to bring the sport of horseback riding to students in middle and secondary schools and to promote and improve the quality of competition and instruction in the East Valley.

Tamara Barrett
Assistant Trainer
Tamara Barrett joined Crossroads Farm as a professional trainer in 2010, but her ties with Rachel go back to her junior days. Horse-crazy as a little girl, she began riding at five years old and competed on the quarter horse circuit before she switched over to Hunter/Jumpers in 1992. As a junior, Tamara competed in equitation and moved up through the ranks of Children’s and Junior Hunters with Crossroads Farm before turning pro. As a professional Tamara has had success in the hunter ring, including sixth out of 26 competitors in the USHJA Hunter Derby held during the 2011 Season Finale Horse show and top ribbons in Performance Hunter divisions.
As assistant trainer, Tamara enjoys teaching a wide variety of students of varied ages and experience levels. “It is so rewarding to watch my young students who are excited to jump bigger fences and compete, but it is also a lot of fun to teach an adult who has never sat on a horse before. Not growing up on a horse is hard for me to imagine, and I enjoy teaching them what I love so much about riding.”
In addition to being the assistant coach of the Arizona State Equestrian team, Tamara has guided her students to success on the category II show circuit with many championships and year end awards. “I want my students to learn that hard work and fun go hand-in-hand,” says Tamara. “Success is achieved through persistence and a good attitude. Most importantly, it is not always measured in ribbons!”
When she isn’t training client’s horses or teaching lessons, Tamara enjoys live music and good food, as well as spending time at her home in Mesa that she shares with her dog, cats and tortoises! |
